Self Catering Apartments West End
The West End is the traditional office base of Edinburgh. Within its fine Georgian offices are housed the powerhouses of the Scottish economy. Financial institutions, surveyors, lawyers, accountants and long time established industries rub shoulders with the big players of the modern service sector and embassies.
If you are doing business with a few businesses in town the chances are that they will be in or within minutes of The West End, thanks to its proximity to the Exchange Quarter, the Quartermile, all of the George Street and New Town Offices and is handy for the offices out of town towards the Gyle and Gogarburn.
There is office space and meeting space available for hire locally and it is close to one of the train stations and the right side of town for the airport should you have people traveling from out with the capital. Transport links to everywhere in the city are excellent too.
As a place to stay the West End bustles with people during the day time and is refreshingly quiet at night, especially when you consider just how close it is to the centre of town. Starting at Charlotte Square and running towards Haymarket further to the west, The West End is a smart good looking part of town.
The streets are lined with impressive buildings and leafy garden areas designed in such a way as to be as impressive by foot as it is looking at it on a map. It is an area of world class urban design to rival anywhere else in the world. Grab a drink at the iconic Rutland Hotel before taking a walk through Rutland Square and round to the West End Village, most of which is contained within William Street and Alva Street, the home of some of Edinburgh's finest independent boutique shops.
The West End is close to the majority of the venues used by Edinburgh’s many festivals, and if you are in town when they are you can easily catch some world-class entertainment. There is a lot to do on the odd evenings when there are no festivals happening in Edinburgh and from the West End you have access to cinemas (art house and regular) and the newly refurbished Usher Hall, or if you stay for the weekends you have numerous art galleries parks and even an exceptional farmers market.
For drinks you should try The West Room on Melville Place or Teuchters on William Street which has a great restaurant underneath it or Indigo Yard. For great eating you could try La Petite Folie or the Cavalry Club but you will be spoilt for choice as there are lots and lots of great restaurants in the area, all of which are perfectly geared for business lunches as well.
