  • The Free Fringe Festival - the return of spontaniety.
Free Comedy at the Edinburgh Festival Arguably, the real, original fun of the Edinburgh Fringe lies in spontaneity. • Edinburgh Fringe Festival Ticket Sales 2009
How the Fringe just keeps getting Better During 2009 the Edinburgh Festival Fringe ticket sales hit a record high of more than 1.85m tickets sold for the event; a sales increase of 9% from the previous year. The reason for this surge in sales is because many people decided to holiday in the UK rather than going on holidays abroad due to the recession. For many 2009 was the best festival in 20 years.
